The team designed the renovation as an imaginative sustainable transformation that does justice to the original architecture, while keeping in mind the Province’s future space needs and climate ambitions to make all of its buildings climate-neutral. In the design for the renovated Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland, bringing in daylight (Dutch light) was the main theme. Above the former courtyard on the second floor, is a central zone containing skylights. These filter natural light into the building in a special way, while the roof keeps direct sunlight out. This helps combat warming and expresses our vision to make the building brighter.
