Huize Vijzelgracht is a national heritage site designed around 1670 by Philips Vingboons as a weaver's house. It is one of approximately eighty weaver's houses that have been preserved. During the restoration and renovation, the original layout was preserved and as much of the original material as possible was retained. Later additions were removed and partially rebuilt to a higher standard within the same volume. After the departure of the weavers, the house was inhabited and used in various ways. This came to an abrupt end in 2008 when the building subsided. The municipality of Amsterdam declared the building uninhabitable and provided it with new foundations in 2015.
