The new City Shop of the municipality of Tilburg is one of the first bio-based and circularly transformed offices in the Netherlands. In 2018, the municipality formulated high ambitions regarding the sustainability of its own housing. This building, which once housed the library and part of the municipal organization, was not the most beloved building in Tilburg.
The Stadswinkel in Tilburg is proof that thinking about circularity no longer needs to be associated with a hippie image; here, circularity manifests itself in an imaginative new architecture.
In 2018, the Municipality of Tilburg established its ambitions in the field of circularity in the Transition Agenda. Circular construction means developing, using, and reusing buildings, areas, and infrastructure without unnecessarily depleting natural resources, polluting the living environment, and harming ecosystems. Building in a way that is economically responsible and contributes to the well-being of humans and animals.
